You’re Gonna Be OK: Monday Devotional 5/25/20

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. – Psalm 139:16

I am a planner. Ask anyone I know.

I love to plan ahead for most everything in my life, and I like to know that plan isn’t going to change. Even so, I like to have a plan in case my plan has to change. I may have a problem…

If you’re reading this, you’re probably old enough to know that life never really follows a plan. I mean, take this year for instance. I’m pretty sure no one saw that curve ball coming.

When I don’t know what the future holds, like I said, my brain imagines all the possible scenarios in order to be prepared. Such imagination actually fills me with a lot of fear.

The Bible verse at the top of this post means a lot to me because it reminds me that Someone far wiser, and far better, has already planned my life. God knows everything that is going to happen. And it is good.

He has already seen every milestone.

Every curve ball.

Every disappointment.

Every celebration.

Every. Single. Moment. He has seen it all already.

Get this. He also sees you on the other side of all of it. Your life may not go as you planned, but nothing on this earth can shake the plan God has for your life.

And I promise you, that plan is good.

Bad things happen. That is just the sign of us living in a fallen world. But God is using all of it to further His kingdom. No matter what the world brings, God’s will still prevails.

Every moment of your life is leading you to the Father, who is working all things for your good. In uncertain times, lean evermore closely to Him who is your Rock. He never changes, even when everything else seems to.

Trust Him. He knows what He’s doing. Nothing can surprise God.

I’m so thankful I don’t have to fear anymore. The God who set this sinner free is also the God who will not leave me nor forsake me. I can rest in that promise. I can rest knowing that my story has been written and planned out already. Nothing happens by accident.

When you feel overwhelmed by the curveballs and “detours” of life, just remember it all happens for a reason, and God is going to be by your side through all of it. Through every mountain and valley, He is there.

He has seen the end of your story. You’re gonna to be OK.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for working all things for my good and Your glory. I trust in Your plan. Help me to let go of control, and put my life in Your hands. I know I can trust you. Give me faith to trust You more. Amen.
